My daughter’s Princess party

I made heraldic flags with a crown and a shoe and my husband made a caslte facade for the front of our house. This way, when my daughter’s guests arrive, they are arriving at a “real castle!” We encouraged each guest to dress as a knight, prince, or princess. Someone even came as a Dragon King! We had jewels to add to their ensemble, and as a craft, we decorated foam tiaras and crowns. Most of the guests were three years old, so they got distracted with the toys that were available for them to play with during transitions from one activity to next. But that was okay, we had fun hanging out all day with everyone. We had craft all day, treasure hunt, and a pull (non-violent) pinata. Of course, lunch and cake was in there somewhere. I think it is possible to have a scheduled party with kids this young, but it really depends on how much help you can get the day of the party.
I had made a castle cake but in the middle of July, it got pretty hot in the house! so the poor cake melted and started sliding on its side! Thank goodness for a quick thinking husband who suggested to place a dragon facing where the cake had fallen down. It looked great! Looked as though the dragon destroyed the cake and I had planned the cake all along! My son even added little knights to add to the authenticity.
